Kevin Feige Revealed Namor was Almost Included in Post-Credit Scene
With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever set to introduce the character to the MCU, Kevin Feige has revealed that Namor was almost included in a post-credit scene.
There are a few Phase Four films that can match the anticipation that is held for the upcoming sequel to 2016’s Oscar Nominated MCU entry.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been a theatrical release circled on the calendars of so many Marvel fans, with the franchise in a state of flux following one of the most tumultuous productions of any MCU project.
The untimely and tragic death of Chadwick Boseman- an actor who was so much more than just the star of the film, but embodied its beating heart- and the COVID-19 Pandemic led to a journey that was riddled with uncertainty and setbacks.
But with the trailer revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, fans observed a film that is seemingly taking all of those negatives and channeling them into a story that is primed to be one of the MCU’s most heartbreaking.
The film is also set to introduce one of the most iconic characters in Marvel history, and it seems as though he is primed for a long future in the MCU.
It wasn’t always set to be his introduction, however, as Kevin Feige has recently revealed that Namor was almost included in a post-credit scene.
Speaking to Empire, Feige stated, “Ryan [Coogler] had a pitch for a tag at the end of Black Panther, the camera would push through the palace in Wakanda, and then we’d see wet footprints leading up to the throne.”
The tease ultimately didn’t make the final film, which instead ended with two post-credit sequences; one that saw T’Challa open its borders to the world, and another that saw Shuri confront Bucky Barnes during his time in the nation.
Although it would’ve been incredible to see Namor arrive on the surface, it is fitting that he is getting this opportunity at his very own introduction in the sequel film.
