Werewolf by Night Producer Explains Why There’s no Post-Credit Sequence
It has become a tradition for the MCU, but it was noticeably absent from the latest project, as Werewolf by Night producer Brian Gay has explained why there is no post-credit sequence on the debut Disney+ special presentation.
A project that didn’t come with a load of hype or fanfare, the Michale Giacchino-helmed Werewolf by Night may well be the ] surprise of Phase Four.
The story presents what may be the most interesting and creative title to come out of Marvel Studios this year.
The project was a beautiful homage to 1930s horror films that presented some of the most iconic movie monsters in history.
And it was clear that the Werewolf of the MCU was always meant to be this film franchise version of that character.
at the end of the day, the Disney+ special presentation was both a wonderful addition to the MCU and a brilliant deviation from its usual machinations.
which has led to the absence of one very notable tradition that fans were uncertain of.
In a recent interview with The Direct, Werewolf by Night producer Briant Gay discussed why there is no post-credit sequence, and why it was more necessary to not have one.
Gay stated, “[That final campfire scene is] in the [same] spirit. We wanted to put, you know, a nice, I guess, button on the end of the special in a way to have it.”
“But with this, we want it to be a contained story.” Gay added, “And so anytime that these, you know, a tag, it always wants next, what’s going on for these characters.”
Gay concluded, “[The Werewolf and Man-Thing] don’t know what’s happening next. They barely made it through this night alive. And so it always felt a little weird that we would return back to something when oh my gosh, you made it out. Just celebrate that moment as opposed to carrying on.”
