One ‘X-Men’ Star Is Already Celebrating His ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Return
For five-and-a-half hours yesterday, Marvel Studios held the internet’s attention as they slowly but surely revealed the cast for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
While many of the confirmed returning heroes were expected (Thor, Ant-Man, Loki, Black Panther, Captain America, The Fantastic Four), others, such as the X-Men characters Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Cyclops (Scott Summers), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), and Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart), were downright surprising.

Of all the names revealed to be returning for the Marvel multiversal adventure, however, none was more shocking than Alan Cumming.
The Original Nightcrawler
For those who may not remember, Cumming portrayed Kurt Wagnor/Nightcrawler in Fox’s X2. While there were initially plans for the character to return in subsequent X-Men: The Last Stand, Nightcrawler was cut from the film.

Now, 22 years after Cumming first suited up as the iconic X-Man, the actor will officially return. Following Marvel’s revelation yesterday, Cumming took to social media to celebrate his homecoming.
Alongside pictures of himself from X2, Cumming shared a video that shows him jumping around in Nightcrawler fashion.

“Never say never!,” he captioned the post along with an Avengers: Doomsday hashtag.
How Will Marvel Integrate the X-Men
While it remains to be seen how Disney integrates the original Fox X-Men into the MCU, with the multiverse set to come together for Doomsday, we may finally see an adaptation of Avengers vs. X-Men. With the Russo Brothers adamant that they will keep leaks in check, it may be a while before we learn more about the film.

For now, we will just have to wait and see.
