A New Report Suggests Marvel May Have Cooled on ‘Blade’ and ‘Deadpool 4’
Despite the fact that Kevin Feige just gave perhaps the most insightful look into the future of the MCU that he has ever given, a new report from Variety says things may be changing at Marvel Studios.
After The Fantastic Four: First Steps delivered middling results at the box office, the Variety article suggests that Marvel may be shifting its priorities in the face of a changing box office landscape.

While we know that Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Secret Wars, and X-Men are on the horizon, Marvel’s plans for its other stars are less clear.
Marvel’s Changing Strategy?
According to Variety’s unnamed sources, the tepid results of recent superhero films have Marvel reconsidering its plans for its long-gestating Blade reboot and a potential Deadpool 4. On the other hand, Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 3 may be gaining momentum.

While the Variety article presents a massive shift in Marvel’s strategy, it is hard to determine what to make of the report.
Feige Recently Endorsed Both Projects
Just days ago, Kevin Feige fairly bluntly stated that Blade was still in development and both Marvel and Mahershala Ali were committed to getting the film made. In a similar manner, the Marvel head teased more stories for Deadpool and Wolverine, despite the studio’s upcoming plans to reboot the X-Men franchise.

With so much uncertainty surrounding Marvel’s plans for a post-Secret Wars world, it is difficult to assess any report on the MCU’s future. What is clear, however, is that the box office landscape has changed. Whether Marvel responds by limiting its output or simply cutting costs, one thing is clear- the days of Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel, and Spider-Man: No Way Home are gone.
