Tenoch Huerta Discusses His Return as Namor in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

While Avengers: Doomsday will see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes reunite to do battle with the evil Doctor Doom, the film will also feature the return of some of Marvel’s morally ambiguous characters.

The big news is that Sir Ian McKellen will be reprising his iconic role of Magneto for the first time since X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Joining him, however, will be another beloved anti-hero, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor.

Who Is Namor?

Introduced to the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Namor is a mutant who rules the kingdom of Talokan.

After waging war on Wakanda, Namor and his forces were ultimately defeated by Shuri. At the end of the film, he vowed that Wakanda would eventually come to him for help.

It looks like Namor’s prediction may come true in Avengers: Doomsday, as Huerta was announced as part of the film’s main cast. Now, the actor has finally discussed his return.

When Huerta Learned He Was Returning

During an appearance on La Resolana Con El Capi, Huerta revealed that he learned of his Namor return just hours before the Doomsday cast was revealed.

“We were waiting on the green light [from Marvel] and my agents in the U.S. were not sure about the news [of my return],” he revealed.

“They practically told us around 12 at night, and at 5:30 in the morning, the [cast reveal] livestream started, and they told us, ‘Hey, the news is about to drop.’ It was surprising and it was cool.”

This time around, Huerta noted that his performance will be different.

“There are twentysomething characters involved in the story, which means we are each going to have smaller roles because there needs to be space for all the characters and all the universes. This makes it a much more simpler role, in terms of time and energy of making a film like this.”

Will We See THAT Iconic Marvel Love Triangle

The big question for fans is whether or not Doomsday will explore the love triangle between Sue Storm, Reed Richards, and Namor.

While it is unlikely that the film will delve deeply into that story, Doomsday will mark the first time the three characters appear together on the big screen.
