Sebastian Stan Says Buckey’s Story Isn’t Finished Yet
While Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are understandably recognized as Marvel’s biggest stars, Sebastian Stan has served as the MCU’s bedrock through its various phases.
Stan originated the role of Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in Captain America: The First Avenger and has continued to tell Bucky’s story across film and television.

Along the way, we have seen Bucky transform from a brainwashed mercenary to an Avenger, congressman, and, eventually, leader of the Thunderbolts.
Is the End Near?
In the lead-up to Avengers: Doomsday, speculation about Bucky’s future has run rampant.

As with other veteran Avengers such as Ant-Man, Hawkeye, and even Thor, many fear Marvel will kill off Bucky, perhaps to raise the stakes around Doctor Doom.

Now, however, Sebastian Stan has given fans new hope that Bucky’s story will continue.

While Stan was loathe to give anything away, he did admit that he believes Bucky’s story has more chapters to it.

“I never have any idea about it is that they want to do, but I still feel there’s something about this character that hasn’t totally been completed and I think [Marvel] know it.”
An Uncertain Future
Despite Stan’s recent comments, it is certainly possible that Bucky will die during the events of Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Nevertheless, if Stan is still willing to portray the Winter Soldier, Kevin Feige and his team may want to use Bucky to bridge the past iteration of the Avengers and the future.

For now, we will have to wait and see.
