Important Update: Venom 2 Moves to 2021
2020 has quickly become the year without comic book movies.
After several official Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films switched dates last week, other studios have followed Disney’s lead.
Recently, The Batman fell back from its target date of June 25, 2021, to a new release date on October 1.
Sony took this opportunity to delay its next comic book movie. In the process, the studio revealed a new name.
The formerly titled Venom 2 will henceforth be known as Venom: Let There Be Carnage. I think it’s fair to guess that Carnage will appear in the movie.
Of course, we won’t know for certain until June 25, 2021. That’s the new release date for Venom. Sony moved it back from its previous release date of October 2, 2020.
With Morbius also pushed back into 2021, Black Widow is the only comic book superhero movie currently slated for the rest of 2020.
The failure of Birds of Prey combined with the current state of closed theaters has left movie studios with no choice. They’re all in a holding pattern until movie theaters prove viable and safe again.
