Ryan Reynolds Offers $5k Reward for Teddy Bear
Ryan Reynolds is offering a $5,000 reward for the return of a stolen teddy bear in his native Canada.
Mara’s Missing Backpack
Reynolds, the actor for Deadpool, retweeted a post by Deborah Goble of CBC News. Goble posted a photo of a teddy bear that was stolen with a backpack that also held a blank checkbook, green card, social insurance cards, passports, and an iPad.
Reynold’s responded to the original post:
“Vancouver: $5,000 to anyone who returns this bear to Mara. Zero questions asked. I think we all need this bear to come home.”

The heartbreaking part of the story is that the girl who owned the backpack, Mara Soriano, lost her mother last year. Not only that, but the iPad contains a recording of Mara’s mother saying, “I love you. I’m proud of you, I’ll always be with you.”
Soriano, who is 28 years old, recorded her mother’s voice and added it to a custom Build-A-Bear when she went into hospice care for cancer treatment.
She told CBC News:
“It’s a reminder of home. The bear has a message in it in Filipino. It says ‘I love you,’ but in our language. So it’s very specific and very unique. I just really want to find my bear. That’s all that I care about.”
Ryan Reynolds Gives Back
The Deadpool actor is known as a philanthropist. He has become involved in several charitable endeavors over the years.
Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, have donated $1 million to food banks. He and his colleague, Hugh Jackman (who are known for their friendly feuds over social media) have teamed up to support those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting the All In Challenge.
Reynolds, who is the owner and chairman of American drinks brand Aviation Gin, has also supported bartenders that have been impacted by the pandemic.
There is so much good in the world if we just stop a moment to find it.
