Benedict Cumberbatch Visits Comic Book Store as Doctor Strange
A clip has surfaced of Benedict Cumberbatch visiting a comic book store in his Doctor Strange costume. Fans couldn’t have been more excited!
Doctor Strange Takes Manhattan
The spontaneous clip was filmed by Scott Derrickson during the filming of Doctor Strange back in 2016. Cumberbatch walked into JHU Comic Books in New York City in full costume. Everyone in the store was shocked!
The actor spoke with shoppers and the clerks behind the front desk. All were completely starstruck, as you can see in the clip.
Benedict Cumberbatch as a Comic Store Clerk?
At one point, he even asked the clerks if he could work there if the Doctor Strange film didn’t do well. They obliged, stating “We can always use a good guy.”
That said, they requested he use his American accent. Ever obliging, Cumberbatch immediately got into character with the proper accent.
Cumberbatch didn’t have to pursue the comic book store job after all, as Doctor Strange went on to gross $677 million worldwide.
Even though the stunt was covered by some news outlets when it occurred, Derrickson released the footage for the first time yesterday. Perhaps it was an effort to lift fans’ spirits among the many film delays recently announced due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Whatever the reason, fans have been loving the clip of Benedict Cumberbatch walking around as Doctor Strange!
