The New Mutants Preview Box Office Sales
Respectable Preview Night Box Office Sales
As the entertainment industry outside the home starts to come back to life in the US, The New Mutants preview box office sales total came in at $750,000. We’d say this is pretty respectable for a movie delayed more times than we care to count and hindered by a global pandemic.
With only 2,412 locations showing the movie this weekend, it’s projected the X-Men spin-off will generate $7-10 million.
Movie Markets Still Closed
Disney’s theatrical release of The New Mutants is really a test of the public’s desire and to return to the theater… and our comfort. Theaters have imposed social distance requirements. However, some states like California and New York are still not allowing them to open.
In some areas, moviegoers can choose to check out the film at the drive-in theater. If you happen to be in the LA area… maybe even at the Rose Bowl Stadium.
Only about 62% of theaters in the US are open right now. New York and California are two of the largest movie markets, but North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Maryland, and Michigan are also closed. Unfortunately, the effects of Hurricane Laura are sure to lower the potential moviegoers this weekend in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
Sink or Swim? It’s Up to YOU
What do you think about the preview box office sales for The New Mutants? Will the movie succeed or flop? You’ll have to find out if the film is a good one for yourself. Critics won’t review the film because Disney declined to offer digital downloads or press only screenings.
