Chadwick Boseman’s Tweet is the Most Liked EVER

The world continues to grieve the loss of the incredibly talented Chadwick Boseman. Social media has been filled with tributes to the Black Panther actor since news of his death.

In a tribute fit for a King, the tweet announcing Boseman’s passing is now the most liked tweet EVER. It has been “liked” by 5.7 million fans as of the time of this article’s publication.

A Silent Battle

Boseman quietly battled colon cancer since his diagnosis in 2016. This was the year Boseman’s Black Panther made his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut in Captain America: Civil War.

Boseman, who was only 43, is known for portraying groundbreaking Black Americans on screen, including Jackie Robinson, James Brown and Thurgood Marshall. Martin Luther King Junior III, the eldest son of Martin Luther King Jr., said the actor had “brought history to life on the silver screen” in such roles. He went on to say “despite his 4 year long battle with cancer, he kept fighting and he kept inspiring. He will be missed.”

Of course, Boseman is most well known for his portayal of Black Panther. An overwhelming number of celebrities and fans alike have commended the star for overcoming surgeries and chemotherapy to bring Black Panther to fruition in film.

Bob Iger, executive chairman of the Walt Disney Company (which owns Marvel Entertainment), tweeted that Boseman “brought enormous strength, dignity and depth to his groundbreaking role of Black Panther; shattering myths and stereotypes… For his friends and millions of fans, his absence from the screen is only eclipsed by his absence from our lives.

Truer words were never spoken.

Boseman passed with his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, and family by his side. The Twitter post announcing his death stated it was “the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in ‘Black Panther.’”
