Photos have emerged from the set of the Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel! The pictures offer fans a first look at Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan.

Fans’ First Look at Kamala Khan

Taken on set in Atlanta, Georgia, Just Jared posted the photos on Instagram and its Web site. The outlet first tweeted out a photo of Iman Villani riding a bike in character as Ms. Marvel.

Fans will surely notice Vellani’s helmet, as it features a Marvel star on the side, as well as her initials, KK.

In another photo, Vellani is seen riding alongside a masked actor. We’re not sure which character he depicts, but the masks indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic may possibly have been written in to the series.

Kamala Khan is the first Muslim super hero to headline a Marvel comic series. The character made her comic book debut in Captain Marvel #14 and went on to star in her own series. In fact, the first issue of Ms. Marvel won the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story.

The Pakistani-American teenager hails from Jersey City, New Jersey and is deeply inspired by her idol, Carol Danvers – a.k.a. Captain Marvel. After undergoing an Inhuman transformation, Khan emerges from a cocoon with new abilities. Not only can she alter her shape and size, but she can completely change her appearance!

Kamala Khan’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will be her first appearance in any live-action media.

Ms. Marvel Set to Debut on Disney+

Although Ms. Marvel has not yet received a premiere date, the series is scheduled to appear on Disney+.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who worked together on Bad Boys for Life, will direct the upcoming series. Joining them will be Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon, a television veteran who has worked on other comic book productions, like The Punisher.

In addition to appearing on the small screen, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that Ms. Marvel will appear in some Marvel films.
