Marvel’s ALIEN Comic Gets New Trailer
A brand new trailer for the upcoming Marvel Comics Alien #1 issue has been released, giving you a first look at the Marvel debut of one of the most terrifying movie creatures of all time!
No One Can Hear You Scream
The titular xenomorphs made their first appearance in the 1979 science fiction horror movie, Alien, which was directed by the award-winning Ridley Scott. Alien stars Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley. The story follows a group of deep-space miners who pick up a dangerous extraterrestrial stowaway while investigating a mysterious distress signal.
Since their first appearance in Alien, the xenomorphs have appeared in many more movies, including crossovers with the Predator franchise (which is getting its own Marvel Comics adaptations – Disney acquired the rights to both franchises thanks to the acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019).
Since the original films, the universe has appeared in other mediums, as well, including prose books and video games. Previously, comics based on Alien and Predator were released by Dark Horse Comics. But, thanks to the acquisition of Fox, Disney was able to pull Dark Horse’s publishing license in order to produce new related work for Marvel Comics.
The Return of Familiar Faces
An interesting piece of information revealed by the trailer for readers who know the Alien movies is that we can expect a familiar face to appear in the comic, Bishop. If you don’t know who that it is, Bishop, who is portrayed by Lance Henriksen, is the android who first appeared in 1986’s Aliens. The character appeared again in 1992’s Alien 3.
And in 2004’s Alien vs. Predator, audiences were introduced to Charles Bishop Weyland, the human upon which the android Bishop’s appearance and personality was based (also played by Henriksen).
