Review: THOR & LOKI: DOUBLE TROUBLE is Twice the Fun!
If you’re looking for a fun adventure starring two of your favorite Asgardians, look no further than Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #1 by Mariko Tamaki and Gurihiru, with letters by Ariana Maher.
This breezy, enjoyable story pits the two mismatched brothers against each other (and as you may have guessed, the catalyst for the trouble is Loki’s mischievous nature – tricksters gonna trickster).
Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #1
First and foremost, we need to take a moment to Marvel at the creative team on Thor & Loki: Double Trouble! Because… Wow! These are some of the heaviest hitters Marvel Comics has to offer.
Tamaki is a skilled scribe whose work hasn’t just graced the panels of Marvel, it’s also dropped jaws at DC Comics (see her upcoming graphic novel, I Am Not Starfire, with Yoshi Yoshitani) and broken hearts in presses outside the big two (look no further than Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me, with Rosemary Valero-O’Connell, from publisher First Second, for an excellent example).
And if you haven’t yet heard of Gurihiru, get ready to meet your new favorite artist duo! Consisting of Chifuyu Sasaki and Naoko Kawano, this Japanese illustration duo burst onto the scene with The Unbelievable Gwenpool (with Ryan Hastings).
Their arresting, colorful art puts and emphasis on environments that look like you can step right into them and adorable characters who are absolutely overflowing with life.
Are you getting the picture? You really want to see what this creative team can do with Thor Odinson and his ne’er-do-well brother, Loki Laufeyson!
Here at Marvel Blog, we can tell you that the story delivers on the potential. You won’t want to put this one down, and you may be somewhat disappointed when you run out of pages!
Release Date for Thor & Loki #2
The good news is, Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #2 will be arriving at your local comic shop next month, and in the meantime, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to page through this comic again to take in all of the gorgeous Gurihiru art!
Will you be hoping on the Bifrost and heading to your LCS to pick up Double Trouble, the newest adventure for the two of the most tumultuous siblings in the 616? Marvel Blog wants to know!
