REVIEW: Double Fun With Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #2
Attention Marvel Blog True Believers! If you’re a fan of Marvel Comics, you simply must call up Heimdall and have him use the Bifrost to transport you to your local comic shop immediately! That’s because you deserve to pick up a copy of Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #2 by Mariko Tamaki, Gurihiru, and Ariana Maher.
Double Issue of Double Trouble
The most devoted of Marvel Blog Untrue Believers (that’s what you say in the Loki-verse) may already be familiar with this four-issue series thanks to our review of Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #1.
However, even if you haven’t read the first issue of this adorable and irresistible series, you might consider swinging by your LCS (that’s “local comic shop,” friends and fellow Avengers)! They may well have the first issue in addition to Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #2, meaning that you can enjoy a double-sized double feature of double trouble (phew)! However, even if you can’t find the first issue, this one opens with a helpful recap page that will have you up to speed in no time.
A Family Affair
And you’ll want to be up to speed for this ride, take it from us! First of all, there’s the incredible art of Gurihiru. This duo of artists has been impressing us for years, and when we say not a single page of this issue will disappoint, our fellow Gurihiru fans will say, “it never does.” In addition to some incredible facial expressions from the God of Mischief and the God of Thunder, there’s also some jaw-dropping page layouts to take in.
And if you feel like Tamaki has an uncanny understanding of every single character that appears in her scripts, well, this issue will do nothing to disabuse you of that notion! Both brothers are fantastic, and Tamaki knows just which members of the supporting cast to bring in (and when)!
And finally, shout-out to Maher for continuing to deliver with the astounding Asgardian font! The fancy-writing for those from Asgard is a staple of the Marvel Comics universe, but there’s always the chance that these florid fonts can become difficult to read: not so in Maher’s masterful mitts!
Seriously, Get Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #2
Even if you have never set foot in a comic shop before, you’ll be bowled over by Thor & Loki: Double Trouble #2. Get a hold of this issue to immediately understand the magic of Marvel Comics, and then get ready to read it again as soon as you get done!
