Marvel Sizzle Reel Heats Up: New MCU Movie Titles Unveiled!
Since Marvel Studios’ sizzle reel really sizzled, here is part two of Marvel Blog’s coverage from today’s hottest trend.
In a sizzle reel posted to Twitter by Marvel Entertainment on Monday, May 3rd, 2021, new titles were revealed for several of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. These included the title of the second Black Panther movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and the second movie in the Captain Marvel series, which will now be titled The Marvels.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Scheduled to be released on July 8th, 2022, the title of the second Black Panther movie has finally been revealed: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, written and directed by Ryan Coogler. After the unexpected death of Chadwick Boseman, who played the role of King T’Challa (the eponymous Black Panther) in the 2018 movie, many fans wondered what direction the story would take.
While only the title has been revealed so far, the inclusion of the words “Wakanda Forever” not only incorporates one of the MCU’s most popular catchphrases but gives fans some idea of the scope the film will take in the absence of the late Boseman.
The Marvels
Meanwhile, the second movie in the Captain Marvel series, which is now titled The Marvels, is scheduled for release on November 11th, 2022, directed by Nia DaCosta. While this title will already be familiar to devotees of Marvel Comics, there is some significance for those who are only familiar with the MCU versions of the character, as well.
As we saw in the final episode of WandaVision, “The Series Finale,” Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) was recruited by a Skrull agent to head towards the stars on a secret mission.
Marvel Blog True Believers already know we’re convinced that Rambeau will play a major role in Phase Four, and it seems like this title suggests just that with each of the heroes logos being featured in the title. Besides, did you know that Rambeau also held the mantle of “Captain Marvel” for a time in the 616?
And there’s another fresh faced MCU character who is referred to by the title The Marvels: Kamala Khan, A.K.A. Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani)! This next generation superhero is inspired by Carol Danvers (Brie Larsen) to step up and become a hero herself, and you’ll get to see Kamala’s origin story when her eponymous Disney+ series finally premieres.
