Bulletproof Love’s Labors Lost: MIKE COLTER Laments LUKE CAGE
In an interview with Collider about the second season of Evil on Paramount+, Netflix’s Luke Cage star Mike Colter reflected on his time in the role of Luke Cage, the titular Hero for Hire.
We spoke to Mike Colter about #Evil Season 2 and never getting closure for #LukeCage
"The positive thing about something like that is you’ll always have a fond memory of something that didn’t stay too long."https://t.co/mHl2G7fTKg

In the interview, Colter said that he was disappointed that the abrupt cancellation of the series after the sophomore season because it afforded no closure for the bulletproof hero.
“There were so many places we could have taken it,” lamented Colter.
The Pulse
Colter was referring to the ongoing narrative about Jessica Jones and Luke Cage in the Marvel Comics universe. After being initially introduced in Alias #1 by Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Gaydos, Matt Hollingsworth, and Richard Starkings, with cover art by David Mack, Cage and Jones go on to have a long, loving story together.
For example, the couple’s story continues in Jessica Jones: The Pulse #1 by Bendis, Mark Bagley, Scott Hanna, Frank D’Armata, Brian Reber, and Cory Petit.
Over the course of this fourteen issue series, readers saw Luke and Jessica welcome their daughter, Danielle Cage, into the world.
Then, in New Avengers Annual (2006) #1 by Bendis, Olivier Coipel, Drew Geraci, Drew Hennessy, Livesay, Rick Magyar, Danny Miki, Mark Morales, Mike Perkins, Tim Townsend, June Chung, Richard Isanove, Jose Villarrubia, and Albert Deschesne, you get to witness an event we all deserve to see play out on screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: the wedding of Jessica and Luke!
“I AM THE SHIELD!”
Danielle herself has some very interesting adventures down the timeline, by the way.
For example, in Avengers: Ultron Forever #1 by Al Ewing, Alan Davis, Mark Farmer, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Travis Lanham, in a story set in the post-apocalyptic year 20XX, we are introduced to Captain America 20XX… who is none other than Danielle Cage!
As Danielle springs into battle against her arch-nemesis, the Gold Skull, she reveals that she has the superpowers of both her father and her mother. “So I don’t just throw the shield — I am the shield,” Danielle declares!
You can’t tell me you don’t want to see that on screen, Marvel Blog True Believers!
More Cage(s) to Come?
Earlier this year, Marvel Studios Head Chinnos-in-Charge Kevin Feige said that revivals of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage were a possibility, so Colter’s disappointment may yet be alleviated.
With all the storylines we mentioned above, plus many more waiting to be adapted from the pages of Marvel Comics, perhaps it’s possible we could see a version of The Pulse on Disney+, giving both characters a chance to return in a single series!
If you want to read more of the adventures of Jessica and Luke (and Danielle) in the panels of Marvel Comics, you can do so right now through the Marvel Unlimited app.
