But if you had the luxury of staying up late or getting up early to watch the Loki finale, scroll past the photo below to learn more about the exciting conclusion!
Loki Finale
The finale was full of surprises and full of confirmations, aka Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) has arrived! Loki fans have been hoping for this huge reveal since before the season started, and the finale delivered, warning us of future big bads, aka multiple Kangs, to come.
Although the name “Kang” was never said aloud in the final episode, other than a wink to the multiple titles held by the character, including “The Conqueror,” it’s clear that the character referred to as “He Who Remains” is the classic Marvel Comics villain. Not only was the actor spotted holding up a copy of Avengers #267 by Roger Stern, John Buscema, Jim Novak, Tom Palmer, and Christie Scheele, a few weeks ago at Golden Apple Comics, but also Judge Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is Kang’s lover and queen in the comics – both small teases about what is coming in Loki Season 2!
The finale episode revealed that Kang is behind the Time Variance Authority. He tells Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) that his reason for creating the TVA was to prevent endless wars with himself, suggesting that by pruning him something much worse will come.
And by the time the credits roll, it seems that Kang may be right.
The sixth episode ends with Hiddleston’s Loki back at the TVA, the show’s Kang defeated, and a new, and more brutal, Kang already installed as the ruler of the TVA. But then, as the credits roll, Marvel Studios announces that Loki will be returning for a Season 2, making it the first Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ show to be renewed for another season so far.
Season 2 Confirmed
Marvel Blog True Believers, it seems that Hiddleston’s journey in the MCU is not quite complete, as a post-credits scene revealed that the God of Mischief will reprising the role in Loki Season 2.
The post-credits announcement featured the God of Mischief’s TVA file being stamped with, “LOKI WILL RETURN FOR IN SEASON 2.”
And this makes sense. Season 1 ends with a clear set up for Loki Season 2.
Ravonna has jumped through a Time-Door, and is still in the wind at the end of the first season. Plus, Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) has been dropped in a new timeline alongside Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) and Loki, in which Kang is the direct ruler of the TVA, instead of the Time-Keepers (and this new reality appears to be much more brutal).
Besides, Marvel Studios has already been open about the potential for a Loki Season 2, so this announcement really come as no surprise. What do you hope to see in the next season? Let Marvel Blog know in the comments below!
