ANNOUNCED: Marvel’s Voices: Comunidades!
In an article posted on Tuesday, July 20th, 2021, Marvel Comics announced Marvel’s Voices: Comunidades, another entry in their series of Marvel’s Voices comics anthologies!
Like the previous books in the Marvel’s Voices anthology series, which spins out of the Marvel’s Voices podcast hosted by Angélique Roché (which was recently renewed for a fourth season, and is truly excellent).
Marvel’s Voices: Comunidades
Like Marvel’s Voices: Legacy and Marvel’s Voices: Pride, Marvel’s Voices: Comunidades will feature all-new stories starring some of your favorite Marvel superheroes. This time around, the anthology will spotlight Latinx heroes and creators (“comunidades” means “community” in Spanish), and the lineup both on and behind the page could not be more exciting!
If you’re been following Marvel Blog’s coverage of the ongoing Reptil series, you’ll be excited to hear that writer Terry Blas will be contributing a story that spins out of that series to Marvel’s Voices: Comunidades.
I hope you pick up #Marvel Voice: Comunidades #1 in October because this article says… "Writer Terry Blas introduces a brand-new hero in an action-packed adventure spinning out of his acclaimed #REPTIL series." – That's all I'm saying. 😀 https://t.co/NniK4bQQcZ pic.twitter.com/pQrBHR8Rz8

Meanwhile, a story by writer Juan Ponce will involve traveling back to the 1950s to meet the Brazilian Sorcerer Supreme of that era, Nina the Conjuror, as she faces off against Anhangá the nature spirit.
It’s honor to be a part of MARVEL’S VOICES: COMUNIDADES! Such an awesome and important comic, made by incredible creators! I can’t wait for you to read these fun and beautiful stories! https://t.co/JY1wIiKxlB

In addition to incredible comic stories, Marvel’s Voices: Comunidades will include an introduction by Frederick Luis Aldama, the renowned comics scholar, about the history of Latinx creators and heroes in the comic book industry.

Plus, the article on Marvel.com also spotlights writer Daniel José Older’s story about Hector Ayala, AKA White Tiger, promising that the tale is rooted in real history.
Please note that even back in the day White Tiger knew we don’t italicize no damn Spanish when we slip back and forth seamlessly. (And comics love some italics lol) I merely walk in his legacy.

And speaking of White Tiger, writer Amparo Ortiz will be telling a story about Ava Ayala, the current incarnation of the hero.
Breaking News: I’m writing for Marvel. 🤗

Marvel Comics Celebrates
Marvel promises that if you stay tuned there will be more information on the other stories in this collection soon, including works by Karla Pacheco, Alex Segura, Leo Romero, Edgar Delgado, Nico Leon, Alitha E. Martinez, and more!
It seems that all the authors are excited to be a part of this Marvel anthology. One of the most exciting tidbits from these author tweets is from Pacheco, who tweeted about a family tortilla recipe that anyone who purchases the issue will be able to learn!
I've got a Ghost Rider short in this, but most importantly you learn how to make tortillas the way my dad taught me. Same amount of hellfire and everything. https://t.co/xVtN5Y8Bie

In addition, Segura tweeted about his excitement surrounding Comunidades.

A few hours later, Romero announced his contribution to the new anthology.
Very proud to be part of this!
And I’m very excited to be writing and drawing my story! https://t.co/Jrz50FlDv0

And so did Delgado…
So, I'm writing a short story for @Marvel 🙂 https://t.co/WIgkBXQr0k
