REVIEW: Meet the Prince of Power in GUARDIANS ANNUAL #1
In Infinite Destinies: Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #1 by Al Ewing, Flaviano, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Cory Petit, with a main cover by Mike McKone and Romulo Fajardo Jr., readers are treated to a laugh-out-loud, hugely entertaining tale about Hercules!
“Oh No! It’s the PRINCE OF POWER!”
This issue is all about the Prince of Power, a hilarious character who has been totally beefed up by the Power Stone. The catch? The only way to really control the powers of the Power Stone is to use your brain… and the Prince of Power is very light on brains!
As a result, we get to enjoy hilarious banter, outrageous physical comedy, and one of the most hilarious origins stories you could ever imagine.
I don’t want to ruin the fun, but this comic is filled with really funny names and events, and yet, somehow, by the end of the issue, you will nevertheless end up feeling something for the characters. This is what cosmic Marvel is all about, Marvel Blog True Believers.
To quote a certain Prince of Asgard: “Another!”
While this story is part of the Infinite Destinies event, and calls back to several issues of Guardians of the Galaxy, you don’t really need any background to enjoy this issue. Just pick it up and buckle in for the laugh-out-loud ride!
Infinite Fury
This issue also features a backup comic: Infinite Fury: Part IV of VIII by Jed MacKay, Juan Ferreyra, and Joe Caramagna. This short comic featured some incredible layouts: a pair of two-page splash pages that will knock your Alligator Loki socks off!
Plus, this story seems to tie-in with the events of Heroes Reborn, and I can’t wait to see where that story goes next!
