Simu Liu Spots New Shang-Chi Billboard in Times Square!
Actor Simu Liu was celebrating his new film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in New York City’s Times Square in a video he posted to his official Twitter account on August 8th, 2021. Despite the rise in COVID-19 cases, Shang-Chi is still set to open only in theaters on September 3rd, 2021.
Simu Liu Celebrates Shang-Chi
Marvel Studios first planned on releasing Shang-Chi in February 2021. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the studio was forced to push it back to September 3rd for safety concerns. But that doesn’t mean that people are any less excited for the film…
Shang-Chi himself, actor Liu, recently spotted a giant digital billboard for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in Times Square and just had to stop to share it with his fans and followers on Twitter. You can see the video for yourself below.

“It’s been a wild ride,” Liu said speaking to Comicbook.com at the Jungle Cruise premiere. “I mean, those parts don’t just come upon those people like me, and it’s such an incredible honor to be put in that position in the beginning.”
Liu added that, “Then it’s just been such a long fight with this movie. We shot in Sydney over the course of 13 to 14 months, we shut down for four months in the middle when the whole world shut down, and there was a time where we weren’t sure whether we were going to be able to finish it. Even when we started back up and had COVID testing and protocols and all of that, we didn’t know if we would make it to the finish line. It’s just such an incredible feeling to know we did and to know this movie is now ready for people to watch. It’s just such an incredible feeling.”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
The forthcoming film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is breaking ground with Marvel’s first Asian lead. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Dave Callaham. In addition to Liu, Shang-Chi will also star Tony Leung Chiu-Wai as Wenwu, Fala Chen as Jiang Li, Meng’er Zhang as Xialing, Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, Ronny Chieng as Jon Jon, and Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist.
