WHAT IF CLIP: What If… Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?
In a tweet sent on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021, the premise of the next episode of What If…?, the ongoing animated Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series on Disney+, was revealed: “What if… Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?”

What If… Tony Stark Was Rescued?
As with the previously released clips advertising the Marvel animated series What If…?, this one opens with a graphic that presents the premise of the episode through a screen that seems to belong to the Temporal Variance Authority (TVA), an organization to which we were introduced in Loki earlier this year.
As the lower screen shows the branching timeline we saw at the conclusion of Loki’s first season finale, when Sylvie murdered He Who Remains and destabilized the Sacred Timeline.

In this instance, the clip goes on to explain that Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) apparently became aware of the attempt on Tony Stark’s life while working for the United States military on a deep cover mission that saw him infiltrating the Ten Rings, the criminal organization that has been part of the MCU since the very first movie – 2008’s Iron Man.
This means it’s an especially exciting episode to be released this week, considering we just learned much more about the history of the Ten Rings in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

In Shang-Chi, we met both Wenwu (Tony Leung), the leader of the Ten Rings at the time Iron Man is set, and the new person at the head of the organization (by the conclusion of the movie, there’s a new boss in charge, but we’ll talk more about that soon, Marvel Blog True Believers).

In addition to releasing the new clip for tomorrow’s episode of What If…? on Disney+, Marvel Entertainment tweeted out some of the concept art for the upcoming episode. And gosh, is it beautiful. One of my favorite parts from each episode is the concept art seen during the final credits, so getting a sneak peek at the episode’s designs was great!
