Marvel’s Wolverine Is Coming to PlayStation 5

In an announcement made during the PlayStation Showcase on Thursday, September 9th, 2021, it was revealed that Insomniac Games is developing Marvel’s Wolverine, a video game that will be exclusively available on the PlayStation 5 console, in collaboration with Marvel Games and PlayStation.

Not only that, but Marvel’s Wolverine is only one of two Marvel Entertainment games currently being developed by Insomniac, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also having been announced via the PlayStation Blog.

The Wolverine Waiting Game

While you may be one of the many, many gamers who are extremely excited for this upcoming game, you will be waiting for a while: the title won’t be released until after Spider-Man 2 in 2023.

But in the meantime, you can learn a little more about the new standalone game by watching the Announcement Teaser posted on YouTube (linked below):

According to the PlayStation Blog, “Even though Marvel’s Wolverine is very early in development, from what I’ve seen of its emotional narrative and cutting-edge gameplay (see what I did there?), the team is already creating something truly special.”

Rampant speculation about the game has already set the internet aflame, with many curious about who will voice the eponymous Canadian superhero… and others hoping that the game will have a mature tone and content, a hope seemingly confirmed by the game’s creative director, Brian Horton, in a Tweet sent on Sunday, September 12th, 2021, which stated the game would be “full size, mature tone.”

Well, we only have one more question in response to that, Mr. Horton: when will Insomniac be announcing a third game, one based on the Merc with a Mouth himself, Mr. Wade Wilson, A.K.A. Deadpool! Look, if you can do a “M” rating for Wolvie, surely you can do a “M” rating for the regenerating degenerate! Come on, Insomniac, I need this!
