In an article posted to the official Marvel Entertainment website on October 13th, 2021, it was revealed that Penguin Classics and Marvel Comics are teaming up for the most epic collection of the season, the Penguin Classics Marvel Collection, marking the first time ever that Penguin Classics has ventured into comic book publishing!

Now, you can learn more about some of the most iconic superheroes in history, like Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Captain America, from Penguin Classics Marvel Collection!
Penguin Classics Marvel Collection
The Penguin Classics Marvel Collection is a group of curated comic book anthologies that will include both original stories and seminal tales of iconic Marvel characters. The first three books in the series are Black Panther, Captain America, and The Amazing Spider-Man and will be published on June 14th, 2022.
Penguin Classics is known for its definitive editions of classic literature, providing sleek editions of authoritative classic texts that are enhanced by introductions from well-known scholars, contemporary authors, and award-winning translators. And the Penguin Classics Marvel Collection is going to be no different!
Each title will be published in the black spine paperback that fans of the Penguin Classic editions love so much, as well as a collectible hardcover edition featuring artwork from the comics.

Helmed by series editor Ben Saunders, who started the world’s first undergraduate minor in Comics Studies at the University of Oregon, and with scholarly introductions by Saunders and Qiana J. Whitted, an Eisner Award-winning comics scholar, this collection is perfect for the Marvel Comics fan.
In addition to the detailed scholarly introductions, each titles also includes a foreword by the next generation of Marvel creators working on these iconic heroes.
For example, The Amazing Spider-Man includes a foreword by the 2020-2021 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Jason Reynolds, the award-winning author also penned Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Look Both Ways and Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You.
Then, Black Panther includes a foreword by Nnedi Okorafor, the multiple award-winning author, who has written Marvel Comics’ Black Panther and Wakanda Forever, one of the most popular series starring the hero.
And finally, Captain America includes a foreword by Gene Luen Yang, the fifth National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, and the author of Shang-Chi vs. The Marvel Universe for Marvel Comics and American Born Chinese, which is about to be adapted into a film at The Walt Disney Company.
