DISNEY+ DAY: Marvel Studios Special Recaps What’s Happened & Teases What’s Next!
Today, on Disney+ Day (that’s Friday, November 12th, 2021), a new Marvel Studios special is now available for streaming on Disney+! Featuring plenty of glimpses of the future as well as some looks back at what’s come before, I strongly recommend you watch this fifteen minute video for yourself! In the meantime, here’s a rundown of everything that’s included.
Looking Back at the MCU on Disney+
The special opens with clips from WandaVision, the debut Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney+ (and naturally, there was plenty of Agatha Harkness included in these scenes).
From there, the tone shifted and we entered the section featuring clips from Captain America and the Winter Soldier, the second Disney+ MCU series, which saw Sam Wilson stepping into the role of Captain America.
Next, it was time for clips from Loki, beginning with the opening scenes and taking us through the introduction of Sylvie and, eventually, He Who Remains. Plus, we saw plenty of other Loki Variants, including President Loki and Classic Loki.
Then, we had a Loki-based transition into the first MCU animated series, What If…? These clips included plenty of shots of Captain Carter and Nick Fury, plus a fair amount of Black Widow… and naturally, there was plenty of narration from The Watcher. However, there was not enough Party Thor to satisfy me… Hopefully, we’ll see more of him in What If…?’s second season.
Looking Forward at Upcoming Marvel Studios shows on Disney+
Then it’s time to head into new footage of upcoming MCU shows beginning with Hawkeye. The scenes we see feature tons of both Clint Barton and Kate Bishops interacting with one another, showing off the awesome chemistry between the two. Then, we get to see a significant portion of the “trick arrows” car chase that borrows heavily from Hawkeye #3 (click here for more on that, Marvel Blog True Believers).
But the special reveals a new addition for the on-screen chase: music from the Nutcracker! It’s a very nice touch.
Next, we got to see some clips from Moon Knight! One thing’s for sure, Marvel Blog True Believers: this costume looks better than anyone imagined.
Then we get to see footage from She-Hulk, including some of the appearances by Bruce Banner!
But that’s not all! Next, we get to see some clips from Ms. Marvel, including (one of her) costumes!
Distant Future
From there, we got to see several logos for MCU projects that will be appearing on Disney+ further in the future. These include I Am Groot, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, season two of What If…?, Echo, Loki season two, X-Men ‘97, Spider-Man: Freshman Year, Agatha: House of Harkness, Armor Wars, Marvel Zombies, and finally, Secret Invasion, which included a brief shot of an older version of Nick Fury!
There’s no shortage of upcoming excitement to look forward to when it comes to the MCU on Disney+. What are you most looking forward to, Marvel Blog True Believers? Let us know what you think in the comment section!
