Elizabeth Olsen Named IMDB Top Star of 2021
One of the great creations of Marvel’s Phase Four slate is the continued development of Wanda Maximoff and the Scarlett Witch persona. Her excellence has seemingly paid dividends as it has been announced that Elizabeth Olsen was named IMDB Top Star of 2021!
It was an award well deserved, with Olsen’s work on WandaVision putting her in the position as one of the MCU’s most talented actors, with one of the best performances of any Marvel collaborator.

What makes this note of recognition so cool is that it comes on the heels of a 7-year relationship with Marvel Studios and the character’s development into becoming perhaps the MCU’s most popular and strongest characters.
2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron was a pinnacle moment of the franchise: watching the original Six Avengers go face to face with a threat of their own creation, and being the first film to truly expand the team.

One of the expansions of this original Avengers team was none other than Wanda Maximoff, who was played brilliantly by one of the greatest actresses on the planet: Elizabeth Olsen.
Wanda was fantastically brought to life by Olsen, who humanized the deeply burdened Maximoff, allowing her vulnerability to always shine through her immense and undeniable strength.

Carrying onward to Captain America: Civil War, Wanda became a perfect example of what a young and unseasoned Avenger looked like; the newest Avenger was the most powerful member of the team but had little understanding of the price one pays to be a hero.
Her youthfulness was at the center of the entire film. It was the first moment we watched the budding romance between her and the sentient supercomputer, Vision, begin to blossom.

Avengers: Infinity War saw the evolution of that romance become a full-fledge partnership, but it was brought to a brutal end by Thanos and his quest for the Infinity Stones.
Avengers: Endgame put her incredible power on display and saw her play a key role in turning back Thanos’ Snap and rescuing the world from his choices.

It didn’t bring back Vision, however. That was something she would do on her own.
2021’s WandaVision is perhaps Marvel’s greatest Disney+ exclusive series as it tells a harrowing story of grief, strength, morality, and the incredible resolve necessary to overcome the deepest of pains.
Wanda is a character defined by her pain, and Elizabeth Olsen so wonderfully portrayed that pain in ways that have endeared the character as much as any in the history of the MCU.
Wanda Maximoff is poised for a leading role in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and should continue her ascension into being one of Marvel’s most important characters.
