Spider-Man: No Way Home Sequel News!
Exciting news from the MCU, true believers! As No Way Home sets box office records, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have confirmed they are “actively” developing Spider-Man 4.
Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige, producers of the Spider-Man franchise, have confirmed that the studios will continue to work together on another installment.
The Future Looks Bright
The original deal struck between the two studios expired with Spider-man: Far From Home. Fortunately, the studios came together to overcome several hurdles and agreed Spider-Man would appear in No Way Home and at least one more movie. That movie would be a Disney/Marvel movie, possibly Avengers 5.
Although Tom Holland had recently cast doubt about future appearances as the web-slinging super hero, it appears that he will continue in the role.
Feige commented: “Amy and I and Disney and Sony are talking about — yes, we’re actively beginning to develop where the story heads next, which I only say outright because I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened after Far From Home. That will not be occurring this time.”
The Big Question Remains… Will There Be Another Trilogy?
As most fans know, Pascal has shared that Sony is preparing to make another Spider-Man trilogy with Holland at the helm. While this has not been officially confirmed, it now does sound like it will happen.
Let’s face it – a second trilogy would make perfect sense! The current trilogy began with Homecoming and Peter starting high school. It ends with No Way Home and his senior year. The groundwork has been laid for a new trilogy covering his college years.
Joe Russo, who co-directed Avengers: Endgame made an interesting comment illustrating Spider-Man’s importance in the MCU. He said: “Tom [Holland] is stepping into the role that Robert Downey once occupied for Marvel, which is the favorite character, and in a lot of ways the soul of the Marvel universe.”
And how can one deny its soul? Whatever the future holds, one thing is certain – we are showing up for it!
Spider-Man: No Way Home is now showing in theaters nation-wide.
