Friends From Work Reunite in Hulk Vs. Thor: Banner of War
In an article posted to the official Marvel website on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, it was revealed that friends from work Thor Odinson and Bruce Banner will be reuniting for a new series from Marvel Comics in Hulk Vs. Thor: Banner of War Alpha #1.
The series will be written by Donny Cates, with art by Coccolo and main covers by Gary Frank. There is currently no word on the rest of the creative team, but there will be a variant cover by Coccolo for the first issue.
Hulk Vs. Thor
The multi-part Banner of War storyline will begin in Hulk Vs. Thor: Banner of War Alpha #1, which is scheduled to arrive at your Local Comic Shop (LCS) on April 27th, 2022. The next four parts of the story will be told through tie-in issues of the Hulk and Thor standalone titles.
In recent memory, Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) are renowned for having thrown down with one another in the Arena of the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) while stranded on the distant planet of Sakaar. We saw these events in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. Here’s a fun fact, Marvel Blog True Believers: Thor’s line in that scene, referring to Hulk as a “friend from work,” was an ad-lib based on a suggestion offered by a Make-A-Wish grantee who was visiting the Marvel Studios set during filming.
The covers and images that have been released for Banner of War suggest that the tech-upgrades we’ve seen anner giving himself over the course of the first few issues of Hulk will certainly come into play in this crossover event!
Banner of War
Hulk Vs. Thor: Banner of War is perfectly timed to both characters’ sixtieth anniversaries.
