REVIEW: Robot Poker Night in Spider-Bot #4
In the fourth episode of the Spider-Bot Infinity Comic on Marvel Unlimited by Jordan Blum, Alberto Alburquerque, Dono Sanchez-Alamara, and Clayton Cowles, we get a glimpse at a sight we’ve never before seen in the panels of Marvel Comics: Robot Poker Night!
Robot Poker Night
First of all, the basic premise for this comic was hilarious. I love the idea that the robots and androids of Marvel Comics get together for a little “robots only” time, and the notion that they would spend it holding Robot Poker Night is absolutely hilarious to me. I especially enjoyed the wide variety of robots who attended Robot Poker Night, including Jocasta and the Vision.
The conflict in this story comes from the fact that every time the artificial intelligence powered heroes attempt to play a hand, Robot Poker Night is interrupted by yet another threat to the city… and naturally, being super heroes in addition to robots, the characters have to stop and save the day.
The solution that the robots arrive at when the conclusion of the comic arrives is an especially hilarious one, and one that benefits from the fact that these computerized heroes can do things we humans can only dream about!
I also enjoyed the M.O.D.O.K. shout-out after the supervillain got a starring role in last week’s Spider-Bot episode.
Spider-Bot #4
Overall, the Spider-Bot Infinity Comic continues to be a fun, funny read. Let’s hope that we keep getting new episodes of this delightful, reference-filled Infinity Comic!
