‘Eternals’ Kit Harington Offers Update On Dane Whitman in the MCU
One of the most divisive films in Marvel’s Phase Four slate had a post-credit scene teasing the future of Black Knight; we now have some more news as Eternals Kit Harington offers an update on Dane Whitman in the MCU.
A film that divided audiences, Eternals followed the story of ten near-immortal beings, being present on earth for centuries, and following their orders for existence by the incredibly powerful Celestial race.
The film sported a theatrical run that made it one of the MCUs underperformers- in large part due to the present and overwhelming COVID-19 pandemic- and a critical response that had it one of the worst-reviewed Marvel movies in the MCU’s decade long history.
It was its debut on Disney+, however, that gave the film second life, and endeared it to many Marvel fans who didn’t see the film during its initial theatrical run.
With ten Eternals being introduced, one of the bright spots was a character who was outside of the main character; that being Dane Whitman.
The love interest of Sersi, Whitman was played by Kit Harington, ad gave fans a hint that he could return in a major way; picking up the Ebony Blade and embracing the mantle of the Black Knight.
In a recent interview on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Harrington gave fans an update on Dane Whitman in the MCU and was honest about his hesitation in assuming his own return.
when asked if anything was planned for his character, Harrington honestly stated, “No, not that I know of.”
The young actor expounded on the reality of the situation, “It sounds like a very political answer but, I mean, it’s exciting for me because the last film, as anyone who has seen it, kind of sets an idea up that I might go further.”
Harrington continued, “So, I’m hoping…But I think whenever you’re answering questions about these things, people point at you and say ‘liar’ as if you know more than other people,” Harrington concluded that he, “genuinely has no idea,” and that he is, “Waiting for a call on it.”
We can only hope that Harrington will be back in the MCU soon enough, as his character clearly has unfinished business following the conclusion of Eternals.
