Disney CEO Promises Dr. Strange 2 Will Connect MCU In “Unexpected Ways”
The Multiverse of Madness is shaping up to be a penultimate event in the MCU, picking right up where Spider-Man: No Way Home left off.
Not only are the audiences clamoring to see the film, fueling endless amounts of hype, now Disney CEO Bob Chapek is teasing big ramifications tied into Multiverse of Madness. March 9th was the annual shareholders meeting for 2022, where Chapek built up both the storytelling and potential worldbuilding of the MCU.

Viewing Bob Chapek’s statements, the MCU may be getting a whole lot bigger! The introduction of the multiverse hopping America Chavez, the potential return of the X-Men’s Professor X, and a myriad of mysterious unknown characters and figures solidifies some major alterations heading to the MCU.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek seemed to confirm these changes speaking in Disney’s annual shareholder meeting, lauding the wide-reaching storytelling and the new ways in which the MCU will connect. A quote is taken from the annual shareholder meeting below details Chapek’s statements on the Multiverse of Madness:
“From Marvel Studios, we have the high-anticipated feature Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness, which premieres in theaters on May 6. With an extraordinary cast led by Benedict Cumberbatch, this film really pushes the boundaries of storytelling and connects pieces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in unexpected ways. I can’t wait for you all to see it.”
Though we may be reading deeply into Chapek’s words, the CEO seems to be hinting at a connection involving various elements of the MCU. This may even herald the return of characters from the former Fox-owned X-Men films, with the potential return of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X signifying this.
The rumor mill regarding who may or may not appear in the Multiverse of Madness has been incredibly rampant. Fan theories ranging from the appearance of Tom Cruise as a variant Tony Stark to the first live-action appearance of the Illuminati convey the overall allure of mystery that surrounds Doctor Strange 2.
