The MCU’s Phase Four is Finally Giving Ant-Man The Love He Deserves
The developing phase for Marvel is making a star out of one of the universe’s most underrated heroes, as the MCUs Phase Four is finally giving Ant-Man the love he deserves.
There are few Marvel characters that have suffered within the confines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe than Scott Lang.
A character that is perhaps the most committed to simply being a good father, it seems as though nothing goes right for the hero.
His obligation to do good has not only led to the character being placed in near-impossible situations, but it has led him to be placed on house arrest for aiding Captain America, and being trapped in the Quantum Realm for five years between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Known for his humor in nearly every instance, Lang has endeared himself to audiences because of his constant positivity and attempts at doing the right thing in every situation.
Scott Lang is among the smartest characters in the MCU a fact that continually gets overlooked due to his humor, with many looking past his immense contribution in helping to figure out how to save the population in Avengers: Endgame, despite the movie continually making him the punchline.
But with all of his best attempts to do what’s right, and to stay positive, he has been on the receiving end of some of the MCU’s worst still.
Lang’s run as pint-sized hero has been defined by one thing, his own bad luck; yet, that appears to be changing with the recent developments of the MCUs Phase Four, as Ant-Man may finally be getting the love he deserves.
The change started with Hawkeye of all places, as the Rogers: The Musical included him in the production despite him not actually being at the event; a fact that could exist because he went back in time to help the Avengers gather the stones
But then, with the trailer of the upcoming Ms. Marvel, superfan Kamala Kahn is seen drawing Ant-Man of all heroes, indicating his own popularity among those within the MCU.
Adding on to this is recently released Ms. Marvel merch that shows an advertisement for the New Jersey Avengercon; with an entire section dedicated to ANt-Man.
Lang’s popularity could, in some small way, come from public perception of the battle against Thanos’ army at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, with the character growing to massive heights and being easily viewable to those who could perceive the battle.
We can only hope that the continued trajectory will see Scott become some kind of celebrity in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qantumania; with Ant-Man finally being shown the love he deserves.
Because let’s face it Marvel fans, there is maybe not an MCU character that is as easy to root for as Paul Rudds Scott Lang.
