‘Hawkeye’ Reportedly Will Not Return for a Season 2
Despite the series’ immense success with critics and its very solid viewership numbers, Hawkeye reportedly will not return for a season 2.
Marvels Phase Four and its release slate of 2021 have firmly established the tremendous potential of their various projects that have been released both in theaters and on Disney+
Fans have enjoyed some tremendous stories exploring some of Marvel’s most iconic characters including Captain America, Loki, Scarlett Witch, and Hawkeye.
One of the most interesting developments of these various series is whether or not Marvel Studios feels as though there is more to the narrative left to tell, or if the projects would be identified as a limited series.
Projects like Loki and What If…? have already been renewed for a second season, with teams of creators hard at work in bringing these various characters and stories to life; others, like WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, have been the beginning to greater stories to be told.
It appears as though there is an update as to which distinction will be held by one of the MCU’s most recent, and successful, projects, as Hawkeye reportedly will not return for a season 2.
A recent report from ComicBook.com states that Hawkeye is now being defined as a limited series after an alteration to its awards nomination submission indicates that there will not be a continuation of the Hawkeye story that we know.
The report states, “Disney is beginning to put up some of their shows in contention for the Emmys, and after changing course with Loki, it seems that Hawkeye is going to be placed into the Limited Serie category.”
Although the development may leave many fans nervous about the continued journey of the iconic character, there is still the potential that the story of Kate Bishop will continue in a different form.
Although Hawkeye won’t be returning, a series centered around Hawkeye and Black Widow is something we certainly would expect to see in the future; the continued development and exploration of the chemistry between Bishop and Yelena Belova is a must for Marvel and the MCU.
