MCU’s ‘Blade’ Reportedly Set to Start Filming This Summer
A film that is among the most anticipated films in Marvel’s upcoming Phase Five slate, the upcoming MCU’s Blade is reportedly set to start filming this summer.
With the constant hype surrounding the various announcements for the nearly endless stream of Marvel films set to arrive in the coming months or even years, Mahershala Ali’s announcement as Blade in the MCU took the fanbase by storm.
One of Marvel’s most iconic heroes, Blade is known as the Daywalker, a living vampire who has all of the benefits of the mythological beings, with none of the detrimental and deadly weaknesses.
The announcement came three years ago in 2019, and with many of those films well underway, details on what fans can expect out of the upcoming Blade film have been difficult to come by, with many fans assuming that the reimagined character will be lower on the list of priorities for Marvel Studios.
That may be set to change, however, as a recent report by The Direct states that filming is set to commence on the newest Marvel series this summer in Atlanta; with a July 2022 start date being firmly established by the Studio.
Academy Award Winner Mahershala Ali is set to star in the film, in a role that has been thus far shrouded in secrecy, outside of a small cameo in the post-credit scene for Eternals; which featured Ali’s Blade confronting Kit Harrington’s Dane Whitman as he almost grabs Ebony Blade.
We can expect, through this interaction, that Ali’s Blade will hold a very specific role in the upcoming Marvel series; specifically as the leading source of expertise in the world of the supernatural that hides within the overarching MCU.
As the MCU’s Blade is reportedly set to start filming this summer, there is still so much remaining in secret, with the chances of the film being an origin story remaining as likely as the film being a chance for Marvel fans to be introduced to a weathered and experienced Daywalker.
Either way, we cannot contain our excitement for what will come from this brand new take on the iconic Marvel vampire.
