‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Reportedly Unlikely to Get China Release
A new report suggests that Marvel’s latest film will follow their unfortunate trend, as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is reportedly unlike to get a China release.
Marvel’s newest epic is slated to be one of its most interesting and important films to date, as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will take viewers outside of the bounds of reality, and into the unknown with Marvel’s resident sorcerer.

The film is slated to follow the through-line present in many of the Marvel Cinematic Universes Phase Four films, with the multiverse and alternate realities front and center; picking up right where Spider-Man: No Way Home left off.
Although it is likely to be one of the MCU’s most vital films thanks to the impact it should have on what the entire Universe looks like moving forward, it appears as though it is set to follow yet another, unenviable, Marvel Phase Four trend.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is reportedly unlikely to receive a China release, sharing the same fate as every Marvel Phase Four film that has experienced a theatrical release, with the country standing firm in the showing of the latest MCU epic.
The news comes from Deadline that the latest Doctor Strange film will share the same fate, and embrace the same curse, like every Marvel film for the past two years.

The report suggests the reasoning comes in a scene that takes place early in the film, in which, “a newspaper kiosk bears the Chinese characters for The Epoch Times, an international multi-language newspaper and media company which opposes the Chinese Communist Party.”
It is also made clear in the report that, “Doctor Strange 2 has been submitted to the Chinese authorities for review, and that a release has not yet been nixed or approved.”

It will be interesting to see how the story continues to develop, with China firmly establishing itself as the biggest film market on the planet, Marvel’s success despite their sales has been an intriguing story that will likely continue to develop with this latest theatrical release.
