About That ‘Moon Knight’ Post-Credit Scene…
After six episodes, and Marvel fans relentlessly questioning the presence of one specific character, let’s talk about that reveal in the latest Moon Knight post-credit scene.
Before we start this discussion, we have to warn you that massive SPOILERS follow; so, if you haven’t seen the season finale of Moon Knight, stop reading NOW, go watch the episode, and come right back here!
Are you still here? Alright, let’s talk about it…
The latest episode of Moon Knight brilliantly wrapped up the past six episodes of the story of Marc Spector, and his complicated struggle with a dissociative identity disorder.
Spector deals with multiple personalities, which is only made worse when he agrees to become the avatar of a vengeful Egyptian deity committed to punishing those who seek harm to the innocent.
The series was the best for Marvel thus far, and it was a brilliant addition to a Phase Four slate that has seen some of the most emotionally resonant works of the MCU thus far.
With a finale that was action-packed, and focused on the eponymous character embracing his obligation and stopping the villainous ideals of Arthur Harrow and the Egyptian goddess Ammit, there was something tremendous that the series finally debut when it was all said and done.
The Moon Knight post-credit scene that arrived for the finale finally paid off weeks of theorizing and gave fans the debut of Jake Lockley, the third personality present in Spector’s convoluted identity.
The development was rather confusing, but for fans of the comic book falls in line with the iconic appearance of Khonshu that took place in Jeff Lemire’s 2016 comic book run on the character.
Lockley did have some comic book accuracy to him, although- like the rest of the series-liberties were taken in how he was portrayed; with the street, start cab driving personality of the source material being swapped for a Hispanic limo driver.
What is interesting is that the post-credit scene all but guarantees that a second season will exist for the character of Moon Knight, as it turns out that Spector is still connected to Khonshu through this unknown and highly dangerous third identity.
We believe that this the character will come back, and Jake Lockley arriving should add a whole level of intrigue to his continued story.
