Chris Hemsworth Joins Scarlett Johansson With Rare MCU Distinction
With the latest Thor film finally releasing its full-length trailer, Thor: Love and Thunder have signified star Chris Hemsworth joining Scarlet Johansson in a rare MCU feat.
From the very beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel’s Original six Avengers have left an indelible mark on the overall exploration of the universe.
The characters who were birthed over a decade ago have been some of the most important to the MCU as it enters its fifth phase, with the entire Universe looking tremendously different than it did in 2008.
Two of the iconic characters in that early development stage were Thor and Black Widow, two characters who have become vital to the MCU, and now share an interesting feat.
With the arrival of Thor: Love and Thunder, Chris Hemsworth is set to join Scarlett Johansson with a rare MCU distinction that points to the growth and importance of both performers.
It has been reported (initially by The Direct) that Hemsworth will serve as the executive producer of Thor: Love and Thunder, joining Johannsson as the only two MCU actors who have gone on to produce their solo movies.
The Direct stated, “Chris Hemsworth is credited as an executive producer on the film, becoming only the second actor to produce an MCU movie while also being its leading star.”
It followed up by stating, “Scarlett Johansson was the first MCU actor to also serve as an executive producer and lead star on her own movie, which came with her work on Black Widow in 2021.”
There have been a few performers who have taken on executive producer credit on smaller projects, with Tom Hiddleston notably being credited as a producer on last year’s Loki series, the same being said for Oscar Isaac on Moon Knight.
It is interesting to see how Hemsworth’s legacy has grown during his time with the MCU, and we can only hope that his presence will continue for years to come.
