‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Gives First Look at Gorr the God Butcher

One of the most anticipated aspects of the long-awaited film, the most recent Thor: Love and Thunder trailer has given fans their first look at Gorr.

There are few Marvel villains that we’ve been as excited to see arrive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe than the menacing Gorr the God Butcher.

More than just a terrifying and powerful entity solely focused on the destruction of the presence of all deities in the Marvel Universe, Gorr is- above all else- a sympathetic villain driven by the deaths of his family.

He already operates in such a unique space as a villain, that it was only added onto when Marvel was able to tab the legendary Christian Bale to play him.

It was a role that experienced a tremendous amount of speculation and curiosity from fans wanting them to do the character justice, and it provided nearly endless amounts of theorization as to what Marvel will do with him in this upcoming film.

After months of speculation and silence, we finally have an idea of what to expect from the villain, as the latest Thor: Love and Thunder trailer has given us our first look at Gorr.

And he looks terrifying.

Marvel has been able o walk a tightrope with this appearance, as Bale is both perfectly recognizable beyond the pale skin and markings of the character, but he also disappears within the vengeful entity crafted in his place.

We have our first look, not only at what Bale looks like as Gorr but about the motives that have driven the conquest that the character now finds himself; as it seems as though he shares this with the source material.

The brand new ThorL Love and THunder trailer also showed off the Necrosword for the first time; the destructive and nearly insurmountable weapon wielded by the character, and it looks as devastating and deadly in the upcoming film as it did in the comics.
