‘Ms. Marvel’ Episode 1 REVIEW: A Coming of Age Story Brimming With Creativity
Kamala Khan’s long-awaited MCU debut is here, providing a creative journey that moves at a breakneck speed while overflowing with creativity and vibrance; this is our Ms. Marvel Episode 1 review.
The very opening to the first episode is as perfect an opening as I could envision; Kamala stating thatit this is, “The moment we’ve all been waiting for.”

A character who has so firmly been established as a fan favorite finally gets her moment to shine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and writer Bisha K. Ali does not disappoint in crafting the Marvel obsessed Kamala Khan that feels perfectly at home in this vast universe.
The series makes the Marvel Universe come alive in a way that feels brand new; giving a glimpse at what it would be like to not only exist in a reality where these heroes walk among us but to be a young teenager enamored with these beings that live among the stars.

Ms. Marvel Episode 1 sets up the story of Kamala Khan brilliantly, by adapting the character as a young YouTuber at odds with the authority figures in her life that are begging her to channel her immense creativity and talent into the unknown and undefined future ahead of her.
At the very core of this premiere episode is the relatable feeling we all had during this time in our lives; being young, unsure, and propelled into the world of planning for a future that we were making up as we went along.

But along the journey that feels so reminiscent for older audience members, it gives younger viewers something so real to their present circumstance; and in Iman Vellani the character truly comes to life.
Vellani is an immensely charming star in the making; she feels at home in this character, with her brimming enthusiasm being balanced by the immense conflict between the world that she lives in, and the one that her parents inhabit.

Although some of the origins of her newfound powers have yet to be explained, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have shown a unique creativity that perfectly suits a character like this and a visual style that is perfectly unique to her story.
This opening installment presents a debut episode that promises a true coming of age story for a character destined to be among the most beloved in the entire MCU.
