Marvel is Reportedly Developing a ‘Thunderbolts’ Movie
One of the most interesting collections of personalities in comics history could be coming to the big screen, as Marvel is reportedly developing a Thunderbolts movie.
They have long been one of Marvel’s most interesting teams, as the group of villain’s turned heroes have a long history of captivating comic readers.
Forming for the first time in 1996’s Incredible Hulk comic run, the team was originally comprised of various villains under adopted identities; for the purposes of infiltrating the government to earn various secrets and classified information.
It was a team that was constructed by Baron Zemo, who took on the identity of Citizen V; a sword-wielding, American flag-clad hero.
The team was named after Thunderbolt Ross- who was also the Red Hulk- as the collection of villains actually felt the pull to the good after their sting undercover.
It was Thunderbolt Ross who channeled their villainous tendencies for good and created a team of former menacing entities to birth this new fighting force that existed outside of the famous Marvel teams like the Avengers and the X-Men.
It seems as though the Marvel Cinematic Universe is primed to give birth to the team on the big screen, as Marvel is reportedly developing a Thunderbolts movie.
The story was first brought to light by ComicBook.com, which reported that the film was not only in development but had also found its director.
The initial news stated that Robot & Frank director Jake Schreier would be tabbed with directing the project, while Black Widow’s Eric Pearson penning the script, and Kevin Feige producing.
Not only were these tentpole positions all filled for the upcoming project, but more so, ComicBook.com reports, “Marvel Studios has been ‘in touch with certain individuals who are already a part of the franchise to make sure their schedules are clear for the shoot.”
It will be an interesting film undoubtedly, with characters like John Walker, Baron Zemo, and others taking their place in the team; likely connected to the MCU debut of Contessa Fontain in Black Widow and the Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
