Kevin Feige Hints at Whats Next for the MCU…
One of the biggest draws of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been their commitment to building toward some of the biggest film franchise crossovers in the history of the industry, and it seems like we may be building to that, as Kevin Feige hints at what next for the MCU…
The entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as a construct was birthed out of the idea that an interconnected universe of various film franchises could not only exist within continuity amidst each other but could culminate into some of the most ambitious projects in movie history.
It was the fundamental principle behind the Avengers; with various solo projects all working separately- but also in unison- to build towards the crossover event that saw six, distinct, superheroes from various projects come together in a massive event.
That same team-up film would build to multiple until it all crescendoed into two of the biggest films of all time; the culmination entries of Marvel’s Infinity Saga.
Avengers: Infinity War, and the subsequent Avengers: Endgame were two of the biggest films of all time, which then equated to them being two of the most successful films of all time, and setting the tone for what Marvel fans could expect out of the Marvel method of world-building.
The biggest question now is; what’s next? As Marvel’s most recent Phase Four has felt like various projects all exploring their own concepts in their very own way.
It appears as though we may have an answer soon, as Marvel Universe architect and mastermind Kevin Feige recently hinted at what’s next for the MCU
In an interview with Total Film (reported by ComicBook.com), Feige stated, “As we’re nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going. I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going.”
Feige continued, “But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny, bit more of a roadmap.”
There are many fans who believe that this could mean Marvel will start to fulfill the hopes of fans that Secret Wars is coming; but in reality, it only informs us that a plan is in place, and will slowly start to be made aware to us within the studios next few releases.
