‘Captain America: New World Order’ Announced for MCU’s Phase Five
There were few other Marvel announcements at San Diego Comic-Con that had us as excited as the potentially game-changing Captain America: New World Order, which is set to arrive in the MCU’s Phase Five and continue the story of Sam Wilson’s version of the beloved hero.
It was the first time that Marvel had been on the stage at the lauded Hall H in two years, with the event being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and with many fans anxiously awaiting what could be in store, no one could have guessed just what Marvel had up their sleeve.
In what was maybe the biggest San Diego Comic-Con that MArvle has ever had, there was no shortage of massive announcements, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it is completely redefined, and the next two years of projects being teased by MCU architect Kevin Feige.
There was the announcement that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would be the end of Phase Four, and that the long-awaited Fantastic Four would mark the debut film of Phase Six, as well as a plethora of projects being announced until then.
What was one of the coolest moments, however, was the announcement that Captain America: New World Order would be taking place in the MCU’s Phase Five, and that it would represent the first solo story of Sam Wilsons Captain America since embracing the role.
The film will follow the story that fans got in the greatly-received Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier; a project that chronicled both Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes’s adjustment to a world without Steve Rogers.
It was a project that established a new era for the MCU, an era in which Sam Wilson would embrace the mantle of Captain America, and attempt to become the same beacon of light, hope, and strength that Steve had been for so long.
The upcoming film will present Sam’s first Captain America film and will be the fourth of the character’s MCU saga, but the first to explore a new inheritor of the title.
