Idris Elba Breaks Silence on MCU Return
It was one of the most surprising moments in Thor: Love and Thunder, with very few inferring that he would be making an appearance at some point; as Heimdall himself, Idris Elba, has broken his silence on his MCU return.
There was a plethora of reasons as to why fans were immensely excited for the record-setting fourth solo film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe resident god of thunder, Thor; and they were reasons that, ultimately, made it one of the most anticipated of Marvels Phase Four slate.
The film would feature the return of Taika Waititi following the tremendous Thor: Ragnarok, the reprisal of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster- this time as the beloved Mighty Thor- and the MCU Debut of veteran Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher.
The film was primed to be jam-packed, which made the return of one character incredibly surprising; but still made him the focus of one incredible post-credit scene that teased his eventual return to the universe, as Idris Elba has broken his silence on his MCU return, speaking on his potential return once again.
Speaking to Collider, Elba stated, “Pretty much his whole sort of like an arsenal of gifts have been tapped into one way or another, he’s all-seeing, you know. But he’s quite a warrior.”
Elba added, “We’ve seen him as a warrior as well, and he has immortality around him and that would be something that we haven’t really explored o that I think maybe interesting Hey, listen, you know, the Marvel world is ever-expanding. You just never know.”
Heimdall has been present since the original Thor film, and it was incredible to see Elba return to the role once again for Thor: Love and Thunder, if only for just the post-credit sequence that he was in.
Although the character is beloved, and Marvel could certainly find a place for his return if they so felt obliged, it does feel as though the MCU is moving forward in terms of the characters in Thor’s Sphere, and that Heimdall will be set to rest in Valhalla.
