Kingpin Confirmed to Return in ‘Echo’
With footage of so many upcoming projects revealed at the massive D23 event this past weekend, one of the biggest reveals is that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is confirmed to return in Echo.
Few days are bigger for fans of the Marvel Universe than the massive Disney convention held in Anaheim California every year.
It is an event that is always taken full advantage of by Marvel head Kevin Feige, who takes the stage to discuss the biggest developing projects for the Marvel Universe in so many of their endeavors.
Whether it is their developing video games, expansions taking place at the Avengers Campus theme park in Disneyland, or their various Disney+ and theatrical releases; it is a day for massive unveiling and announcements that become the talk of the entire Marvel fandom.
And one of the biggest reveals has come from one of the most exciting projects for the MCU’s Disney+ releases of Phase Five, as it was revealed at D23 that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is set to return in the upcoming Echo series.
It was rumored for a long time by fans and the media alike, but we now have confirmation from the actual footage that was shown to those in attendance at the event.
Officially reported by Variety, it was revealed that “the ‘Echo’ Footage, which was exclusive to those in the room at D23, included subtitles, shots of Native people and tons of Echo (Cox) kicking ass. At the very end of the first-look video, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin returns and is wearing an eyepatch.”
Marvel’s earlier Disney+ release, Hawkeye, saw the debut of Alaqua Cox’s Echo and revealed that she is the niece- and essentially becomes the adoptive daughter- of Wilson Fisk’s Kingpin.
The two had an interesting relationship that ended with Echo confronting the Marvel villain after coming to terms with his evil deeds that eventually caused the death of her father.
There are few projects that are as important to the MCU, with Alaqua Cox becoming one of the biggest surprise stars of Marvel’s Phase Three slate.
