Marvel Studios Reveals Inspiration Behind ‘Werewolf by Night’
It is primed to be the first true holiday special for the MCU, as Marvel Studios reveals the inspiration behind Werewolf by Night.
There are a few projects that were primed to appear during the MCU’s Phase Five slate that carried the intrigue and mystery of Werewolf by Night.
For a project that had been spoken about for so long, it is often overlooked that this summer’s D23 convention was the very first time that the project was even confirmed.
Fans had been inundated with rumors and half confirmation, but it was the weekend-long Disney celebration that delivered our first taste of what to expect from the very intriguing story of one of Marvel’s most interesting supernatural characters.
A trailer and poster were shown and one thing was absolutely certain about the MCU’s very first Disney+ holiday special; it was unlike anything that Marvel had ever done.
Yet, it was very clearly a brilliant look into what would be possible through the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the seemingly present willingness for the Studio to adhere to no rules when it came to the development of their various titles.
And it seems now we have a little more insight, not just into the development of the project, but into what first sparked the idea, as Marvel Studios has revealed the inspiration behind Werewolf by Night.
The Direct has revealed an official profile document for the Halloween Special, where it was written that very early, classic monster movies where some of the biggest inspirations behind the project.
The document stated, “Inspired by horror films of the 1930s and 1940s, the chilling special aims to evoke a sense of dread and macabre, with plenty of suspense and scares along the ways we explore a new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
The inspiration was certainly honored brilliantly by the director of the piece, legendary composer, Michael Giacchino, as it appears to perfectly celebrate that brilliant style of film of an age long gone.
