Why Matt Shakman May be Perfect for the Fantastic Four
Although it was a decision that seemed to come out of the left field, we discuss why Matt Shakman may just be perfect to direct the Fantastic Four.
There is no denying that Marvel’s first family may not just be some of the most iconic heroes in the history of Marvel comics, they may be some of the most iconic characters that the medium has ever seen.
Well dominating the comic book industry for decades, the Fantastic Four and their unique family dynamics have lent themselves to some of the greatest comic book stories of all time.
Characters that have interesting and unique personalities, joining together in times of crisis or celebration as a family unit that is endlessly bonded have been a tale that has done Marvel well, and continues obe celebrated as one of the comic book industry’s greatest collectives.
These are some of the most popular characters that Marvel has ever created, and there is no denying how important they remain in the comic book world; the importance that is finding its way into the film world also.
So much has been made about just who will bring these characters to life after Jon Watts surprisingly stepped away from the franchise.
And despite their eventual choice feeling a bit odd, Matt Shakman may well be the perfect choice to direct the Fantastic Four.
In Shakman, Marvel is clearly following a proven model; getting directors who are accustomed to working in television and giving them massive blockbuster films.
It famously worked brilliantly with the Russo Brothers, but Shakman has two things that they never did; a wide array of genres, and experience in the Marvel world.
Shakman has directed everything from Game of Thrones, to Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but more importantly, he brought to life what may be Marvel’s best Disney+ series, WandaVision.
It is that creativity and malleability that will make Shakman such a valuable commodity for the Marvel Universe, and he is primed to prove his worth by bringing to life one of the most important projects for the MCU
