Rumor Suggests Marvel has Big Plans for Namor
He is one of the most exciting arrivals of Phase Four, and it seems as though that may just be the beginning, as a new rumor suggests Marvel has big plans for Namor.
When Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters next month, it will be the 30th film that Marvel Studios has released in its lauded Marvel Cinematic Universe.
That film will have had a tumultuous road to that release and has been one of the most perseverent projects that the Studios has ever seen come to fruition.
Dealing with the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman and the COVID-19 pandemic, the project had to completely restructure itself to cope with the loss of not just the film’s eponymous character, but the beating heart of the entire production.
It is just on the horizon, however, and the first trailer that was released during San Diego Comic-Con seemingly promised an immensely emotional film that will present a grieving Wakandan nation in mourning, and seemingly at war.
A massive part of the film is the long-awaited arrival of one of Marvel Comics’ oldest characters, and with his debut there seem to be massive hopes for his future contributions to the MCU, as a new rumor suggests that Marvel has big plans for Namor.
The Direct has recently reported rumors from Bleeding Cool that stated that Namor could be facing a similar track that Black Panther did following his original debut.
The report states, “I am told that Marvel Studios considers Namor’s appearance in Black Panther 2 to be akin to Black Panther’s appearance in Civil War to set up an upcoming franchise.”
It continued, stating, “Much of the reported gossip elsewhere of large has concerned of the role of Namor and Atlantis. That there is a war between Wakanda and Atlantis.”
The report concluded, “But Bleeding Cool has heard that there will be focs in the movies on the character of Namor the Sub-Mariner, his cousin Namora, and the Atlantean warlord Attuma.”
With promotional material we’ve seen confirming the importance of Namora and Attuma, it seems as though this rumor could come to fruition, but does change that it is still but a rumor.
