Marvel Reportedly Recasting Red Hulk for ‘Thunderbolts’
It was one of the biggest tragedies of the year, as actor William Hurt passed away; with a film centered around his title character appearing in Phase Five, Marvel is reportedly recasting Red Hulk for the Thunderbolts.
He has long been one of the most interesting and coolest anti-heroes of the Marvel Universe, as Thunderbolt Ross is a name most diehard Marvel fans will know.
Throughout his legacy in the Marvel Universe, he is a character that has always attempted to do what is right for the world, but with a skewed hatred for certain superhumans; specifically, Bruce Banner’s alter ego.
The rivalry of Burce Banner versus Thunderbolt Ross has been one of the character’s best conflicts, and the battle between Hulk and Red Hulk remains some of both characters’ greatest fights in comic lore.
Thunderbolt has been present in the MCU for some time, first arriving in 2008s The Incredible Hulk, before reappearing in Captian America: Civil War, where his penchant for wanting to limit the power of superhumans began to rear its head again.
That version of the character was brought to life by famed actor William Hurt, who sadly passed away earlier this year, with his final appearance being in Black Widow, as she hunted down Natasha for her involvement in the Civil War incident.
With Hurt passing away as a film centered around a superhero team developed in his honor, there are many who hoped that he- and his super-powered alter ego- would be present at some point.
It seems as though that may still be possible, as Marvel is reportedly recasting Red Hulk for the Thunderbolts film.
CBR.com has recently reported the news that Ross is likely to be recast and that none other than Hollywood legend Harrison Ford is set to bring the iconic character to life in the upcoming film.
