‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Director Talks Namor’s Costume
It certainly is one of the most comic book accurate outfits that we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler talks about Namor’s costume.
There is no denying that the upcoming Black Panther sequel is one of the most anticipated projects to come out of what has been a very exciting Phase Four slate.
Not only will this film be the long-awaited follow-up to the 2016 masterpiece that is- to this day- the only MCU entry to be nominated for an Academy Award for best picture, but it will tell the story of a grieving Wakandand nation following the tragic death of the Black Panther himself.
The passing of Chadwick Boseman, and how the fictional nation moves forward from that, will certainly be one of the film’s most interesting aspects, but it will only be one part of it, as the story will also focus on a whole host of new characters.
Chief among those character is the film’s antagonist, the leader of the underwater nation of Talocan, who has emerged to the surface to wage war against the nation that put his people in jeopardy.
The character certainly boasts one of the most comic books accurate looks in the MCU, In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler discussed Namor’s Costume.
Coogler stated, “I think with making these types of movies, you’ve got to lean into the weird stuff, or you risk missing what makes it fun. He’s got really unique features and things that don’t necessarily go together.”
Coogler added, “He can breathe underwater, obviously, but he’s got these little wings on his ankles. He’s got pointy ears and walks around in his underwear. It’s all fun man.”
The look of Namor is certainly one of the best aspects of his character, and it is incredibly cool to hear that, despite how serious Coogler has invested and crafted these characters, he is still committed to the fun of what a comic book film should be.
