Anthony Mackie Says ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Is “Better Than Any Tom Holland’s Movies”
Anthony Mackie appeared on The Official Marvel Podcast this week to discuss Captain America: Brave New World, and he did not hold back.
While the fourth Captain America film will not hit theaters until next year, there has been increasing buzz surrounding it recently.
Previewing the upcoming film, Mackie revealed that we will see an independent Sam Wilson this time around. He also couldn’t help but take a shot at Tom Holland.
“Well, he’s Cap. Finally,” Mackie laughed. “Now we see him running missions on his own and trying to figure out where he fits into the whole world. This is way better than any of Tom Holland’s movies. And, I have Harrison Ford!”
Harrison Ford Seems Happy in the MCU
The early marketing of Captain America: Brave New World has focused heavily on Ford’s entry into the MCU. The Hollywood legend will not only assume the role of Thunderbolt Ross from the late William Hurt but also transform into Red Hulk.
The typically surly Ford has (perhaps surprisingly) sounded thrilled about joining the MCU.
“I am delighted and I am proud to become a member of the Marvel Universe,” Ford said at San Diego Comic-Con last month. “I have been watching fantastic actors having a good time… and I wanted a piece of the action. Fantastic! Marvelous, even.”
Praise For Danny Ramirez
Perhaps overlooked in the lead-up to Captain America: New World Order is Danny Ramirez, who will reprise his role as Joaquin Torrez from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Mackie, however, made sure to share his excitement for Ramirez’s return.
“The stuff that he’s doing with his character and what he brings. The flavor, the beauty, the joy he brings to that character. I feel like it brings a whole new energy to the Marvel Universe,” he said.
As for the new Falcon himself, Ramirez shared that he was thrilled to assume the role the mantle that Mackie made famous.
“It’s a beautiful generational baton passing… To put that on and to feel how I felt. To have to do some stuff and feel, ‘Oh, this is the movie we’re making.’ I was finally able to see what it was like for Anthony [Mackie] to put on the suit,” he said.
Captain America: Brave New World will hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
